National Aboriginal Day On Monday

National Aboriginal Day – Monday, June 21st – is an opportunity for each of us to acknowledge and celebrate the diverse cultures and many contributions of the First Nations, Inuit and Métis Peoples of Canada.

History

In 1982, the National Indian Brotherhood called for the creation of a National Aboriginal Solidarity Day to be celebrated on June 21.

In 1995, the Royal Commission on Aboriginal Peoples recommended that a National First Peoples Day be designated. Also in 1995, The Sacred Assembly – a conference of Aboriginal and non-Aboriginal Peoples chaired by Elijah Harper – called for a national holiday to celebrate the contributions of Aboriginal Peoples to Canada.

National Aboriginal Day was first proclaimed and celebrated across Canada in 1996.

Come Monday

We hope you have an opportunity to take part in an activity to mark National Aboriginal Day with family, friends, colleagues and communities … and enjoy the summer solstice at the same time.

On behalf of the Indigenous Corporate Training Inc family, we wish you and yours an enjoyable National Aboriginal Day.

Sincerely

Bob, Cindy, Flavio, Rob, Lori, and Ian
