Lyson Rivest, Trainer/Speaker

With over a decade of experience working in the federal public service at the Ministry of Crown-Indigenous Relations, Lyson brings a unique perspective of Indigenous relations, training development, and negotiation to ICT.

Lyson has represented Canada at the negotiation tables for specific claims aiming to address past historical breaches of treaty promises or other obligations towards First Nations, and has been involved in the negotiation of future-looking agreements: Modern Treaties, and self-government agreements.

Most recently, prior to joining Indigenous Corporate Training Inc., Lyson served as the Manager of a team responsible for educating public servants about modern treaties and self-government agreements across departments. In this role, she designed a core training program in Indigenous awareness, which has been attended by over 10,000 federal employees in under two years.

Lyson draws from her experience working in policy development, negotiations, and learning & development to help her audience make sense of complex Indigenous topics and issues. She fosters a safe and supportive learning environment where participants can challenge their own belief systems and explore different perspectives without fear or judgment. Lyson believes that empathy and humility are key to productive interpersonal and intercultural relationships.

Lyson holds a Bachelor in International Development and Globalization and is fluent in French and English.
